UHP is both sponsoring (overseeing) and participating in the research. Patients having their gallbladder removed during the study period(s) may be included in the study. University Hospitals Plymouth are the study Sponsor (meaning the organisation which is taking the overall lead and responsibility for the study), and are also financially supporting the study. There has been no specific grant issued, however they are funding the research time of the main researcher (Oliver Brown, co-investigator), and are also supporting the study with the use of REDCap.
